Bedtime Story

We’re back, everybody! Sorry for the downtime. I’ve been busy learning how to manage my own virtual server and hosting my own domain and linux and whatnot. A lot of missteps along the way, but it seems I finally got the sites up and running.

After this move I expect no more problems due to “High CPU usage”, and I have triple the former bandwidth, which I means I can replace the compressed jpg images of some of the most popular comics with their rich png counterparts.

Having said that, I’d like to mention that 50webs.com has been a terrific host for me for the past 5 years, and all the suspensions of service are an understandable downside to getting a bit of attention in a shared hosting environment. I had to move on to bigger and better platforms, it seems. A tiring ordeal, but also welcomed, as it shows we’re growing.

Anyway, there are still a lot of minor details to fix, but I can thankfully stop worrying about the inner workings of the website and start drawing again.

See you soon!

Glad to see you’re back. I was hoping the downtime wouldn’t be long.

Thank you! It would’ve been shorter if I had figured some things sooner, but all in all, as full on migrations go, I guess this wasn’t so bad. Thanks for stopping by!

You’re welcome, just glad you’re not gone for good. You have great skill.

I was wondering where you had gone! Maintaining your own virtual server could be a pain, no? At least you had the opportunity to salvage your site: one of the places I used to write for went down because the ISP went belly up (smashy.net). I’m happy I had an archive of it.

As far as the drawing – I look forward to seeing more of your work! I always find it difficult to find time to draw.

    Best of luck to you!

It is a pain! At least it was, at first. The most frustrating part was fumbling with DNS zones and the domain hosting, which I didn’t know I had to do myself.

Too bad about smashy… I remember when I excitedly read what you wrote about Port Sherry. Thank you for reposting it on your site! And thanks for visiting… I’m a bit busy with annoying stuff at the moment but I’m dying to update my dear old comic.

    Cheers,
